Coming from a diverse background, my work involves making “marks” along my journey as a human. I have no sense of nationality, nowhere I’d call home. I can’t handle secrets, I can’t handle shame. I’m always trying to expose something or bare myself in some way, parading a strength made up of weaknesses, an upside down masculinity. Using myself in my work is a way for me to connect with myself, reclaim my body, raise my voice. It allows me to get a grasp on myself - and so, it is something I must always return to.
